Abstract

The superconductive coil of the current limiting device can be switched by its natural magnetic field from the superconductive to the normally conductive state. The coil is surrounded by a magnetic screens of superconductive material which forcibly extend the magnetic lines path generated by the coil current. The partial cancelling of the screening effect results in the increase of the natural magnetic field, due to shortening of the path of the force lines, so that the coil is switched from the superconductive into the formally conductive state. The screens (4) can be at least partly subjected to a current surge and they are connected to a capacitor via an ammeter.
