Abstract

The stroboscope comprises a disc (91) having groups (92) of raidal slots wherein the spacing between the groups defines the spacing of characters to be printed and the spacing between the slots with a group defines the spacing between the columns of the character matrix. The disc is driven by a motor through first gearing (93) connected to second gearing to drive the carriage of the printing head. The drive can be stopped by a clutch in the first gearing and the carriage can be independently returned on release of a clutch in the second gearing.
