Abstract

Agricultural mulching material consists of a biodegradable woven or nonwoven fibrous material impregnated with an opacifying material that is waterproof but allows the exchange of gases. The matl. is biodegradable; has good gas permeability permitting the respiration of gases; has good mechanical strength; avoids difficulties associated with the use of plastic films, e.g. gas impermeability and accumulation within the soil and increases the growth rate of plants.
