Abstract
The remote sensing equipment (2) scans the earth's surface or clouds and the data received is treated on the ground to produce views which can be examined and interpreted by an observer (5). The interpretation is aided by presentation of the views on a graphical transcription apparatus (7) which provides the coordinates of a point chosen on the view by the observer. Information on the parameters defining the instantaneous position of the aircraft or satellite (1) is sent to a computer (8) together with the coordinates of the point selected by the observer. The computer (8) then provides the real coordinates of the point selected taking account of the position (1) and of various aberrations e.g. optical. An on-board clock (4) ensures synchronism.
