Abstract

A ceramic mould, for mfg. complex glass objects, has the core and outer jacket made of a mixt. of 2-6 pts. vol. chamotte flour, 2-6 pts. vol. sepg. agent, and 2 pts. vol. hard mouldings gypsum plaster. The sepg. agent pref. has compsn. 50-70 wt.% quartz, 25-45 wt.% mica and 2-10 wt.% china-clay. The pref. uses a lost-wax pattern, esp. of beeswax or a mtal. with similar properties, the awax pattern being coated with a lacquer before investment i.e. to make the mould. An inexpensive mould which avoids the cost of a metal mould when only small numbers of the glass object are required.
