Abstract

The assembly comprises the pedal proper (2) and a complementary component (12) fixed to the underside of the rider's shoe (5). The component is engaged and released by turning the shoe in relation to the pedal. The latter can have a flat supporting surface, with front and rear flanges forming arcs of the same circle. The component is of trapezium section with edges curved to the same radius as the flanges and engaging in grooves (9, 10) formed in them. Means can be included for automatically locking the component so that it cannot rotate in relation to the shoe.
