Abstract

A press for jackets, overcoats, suits, etc. with a pressing plate and interchangeable formers, has, for the working surface of the pressing plate, an impermeable elastic membrane, tightly sealed at its edges and of such dimensions relative to those of the formers, that when brought into its pressing position, it also covers and presses directly against the vertical and almost vertical as well as the side faces of the former. A cavity is arranged in the pressing plate into which when the operation is completed, the membrane is drawn by suction, so that only the minimum lift of the pressing plate is necessary to permit the removal and positioning of the garments.
