Abstract

A 2-step process for glazing nitrocellulose based powders using two combustion moderators comprises first treating the powder with an alcoholic soln. of an aromatic nitro hydrocarbon (I) and then with an alcoholic soln. of a ketone (II). The treated powder (esp. "B powders") has reduced temp. coefft. and each grain comprises three layers, namely, an external one of very low potentional comprising nitrocellulose (III), (I) and (II), an intermediate layer of slightly higher potential comprising (III) and (I), and an internal layer of high potential comprising (III).
