Abstract

The main part of the machine has two tong-like clamp and support-parts at one side, for firmly gripping the bottom of the tree. A cutter is joined to the bottom section, to saw off the tree in the last stage. Another cutter is fixed to the top of the main part. The top part of the tree is held by a clamp and branch-removing section fixed to the top of an arm which can be moved in relation to the main part. The top part of the tree is moved downwards by means of two guide-rollers. When the tree has been lowered to the required log-size length, it is sawn off. The top part of the tree can then be removed above the top part or the cut-off log removed. Blades on the clamp and branch-remover take off the branches from the top section of the tree.
