Abstract

A moving device (1) rotates about an axis under the influence of the quantity being measured. The movement of the device causes a light signal to be displaced on a receiving surface (6) formed by the ends (7) of a series of light pipes. The light signal affects only one pipe end at a time. The opposite ends of the light pipes are positioned in a configuration determined according to the requirements of the measurement. The moving device (1) may be a moving coil galvanometer. The light signal is the edge of the shadow of a screen (3) carried by the moving coil galvanometer.
