Abstract

The appts. consists of a radioactive neutron source measuring cell which is limited by at least two surfaces contg. plane surfaces parallel to one another, a neutron moderator, a neutron reflector and thermal radiation sensors for detecting neutrons. These are all arranged in such a way that there is a linear relation between the time needed to collect the pulse count supplied by the neutron detector and the concentration of neutron-absorbing substance dissolved in the liq. The appts. can have an electronic data-processing unit attached to it. The neutron detector is in series of a pre-set counter and in parallel with a time sequence counter to produce a third count giving the counting rate and hence the attenuation introduced by the boron in the water.
