Abstract

The mechanism is for use when fitting bottle caps, and the bottles are subjected to a number of rotary jets of air (13) so aimed as to strike the neck of the bottle (19, 20) and the wider part adjacent to it at different levels. The air discharged by the jets follows a spiral pattern, driving downwards the drops which result from the humidity or condensation of the washing liquid. These drops are wiped off to complete the drying operation, and finally water is eliminated from the wiper components-which can typically be brushes on opposite sides of the path travelled by the bottles - by means of an air blast.
