Abstract

In an appts. for anchoring floating systems to a cell, open at the top and fixed to the sea bed, esp. in relatively deep water, by means of a connecting arm pivoted on the floating system and having submerged buoyancy tank(s) to facilitate vertical motion, with a propulsion unit for lateral motion and anchoring device pivoted to its end for the closure and emptying of the base cell, the improvement comprises (i) an anchoring device with lateral surfaces for retaining seal rings cooperating with corresponding lateral surfaces of the underwater base cell, and (ii) roller elements cooperating with corresponding roller support surfaces on the base cell and ensuring horizontal rotary motion of the anchoring device through 360 degrees. When the floating system connected to it by the connecting arm rotates through 360 degrees. Device eliminates the need for the large number of separate anchoring chains and anchors and the necessary operating ship, and provides a single composite limit connecting the platform to the anchoring posn. on the sea bed in such a way that the platform can be released from this posn. in a few minutes. Also permits the prod. from a series of underwater boreholes to be collected at the anchoring posn. and transported to the platform for loading onto tankers.
