Abstract

The system is used for handling luggage carried on very large aircraft. In a labelling station, strong plastics straps bonded to a cardboard label with the destination and a check tag, are slung around each piece of luggage and bonded together by adhesive. The articles pass through an over where heat shrinkage fixes the straps firmly to the luggage. Automatic readers scan the codes of the labels and operate switch points to direct the luggage to the various loading ramps. The client is handed the check tag and can claim his luggage on arrival.
