Abstract

In the heat-exchanger, the storage mass carrier, usually in the form of a rotor, comprises a central shaft with sector cages fastened to it accommodating the storage mass, with high-differential-temperature fluids passing through and transmitting heat from the hot to the cooler fluid, normally leading to rotor deformations, leakages and loss of efficiency. The radial partitions dividing the mass carrier are connected to a sheath which is double-walled, with an intervening gap between these walls large enough to allow unhindered deformations of the outer sheath wall and heat expansions of the inner one, against which the storage mass may be closely packed. Harmful heat expansion effects are minimised.
