Abstract

The spanner, totally electrically insulated by a moulded plastic glass fibre impregnated sheath, has an insulation barrier between opposed heads, thus preventing accidental earthing etc. The spanner shaft is split diagonally in two, and the two pieces are suitably spaced in the mould, the diagonal cut enhancing leverage properties. Three studs are used to support the spanner in the mould so that the insulation may easily flow about the spanner. Upon removal from the mould the voids left by the studs are closed using a glue or plastic welding material of the same colour as the insulation.
