Abstract

The drum is made up of a fixed axle which carries two flanges. The outer flange is adjustable so that the width of the drum may be varied. This is achieved by moving the flange along the hollow hub spindle, levers being used to turn a locking nut. Each flange has four radial slots (10) which allow the hub pins to pass through the flanges. The pins are connected by links (17) to a rotary hub disc (19) so that rotation of the disc by a handle (21) moves the pins along the slots to vary the hub diameter. The drum is mounted on a vertical stand fitted with wheels. the drum is fitted with a brake mechanism operated from the brake lever.
