Abstract

Device for delivering a medicament to the eye at a predetermined rate over a long period, consisting in known manner of a closed container suitably constructed for insertion in a conjunctival sac. of the eye, with walls surrounding a closed reservoir containing the medicament, which diffuses through the wall, but in which in novel fashion is formed from first and third mutually spaced walls, insoluble in the tear fluid, at least one wall being permeable for diffusion of the medicament at a pre-determined rate, together with a second intermediate annular wall sealed to the outer edges of the first and third walls, the medicament reservoir being delimited by the inner surfaces of the first, second and third walls. Provides a more satisfactory method for sealing the outer edges of the outer walls and spacing these than in the known two-walled container.
