Abstract

Title cpds. of formula (I) (where m = 0-3) and their acceptable acid addn. salts are prepd. by reducing a cpd. (II) (where X is methylene or carbonyl). Redn is in inert solvent using mixed metal hydrides such as sodium bis(2-methoxyethoxy)aluminium-hydride or LiAlH4 etc. (I) have antiviral activity against rhino- and corona virus and may be used for the prevention, stabilisation or treatment of inflections caused by these viri in the upper respiratory tract. (I) do not show much irritation of the eye and nose tissue upon transnasal administration. They have low toxicity and show few side-effects.
