Abstract

Individual removable plates are secured to the cylinder by a plate support, the edges of adjacent plates bearing against each other, while the mating faces are not parallel to the cylinder lengthwise axis. Each individual plate has, along two of its edges, radial faces which fit a mating edge of an adjacent individual plate. The insertion area can run parallel to the cylinder lengthwise axis, and the edges can run as a regular pattern in this area, being typically of sawtooth section or undulating. The plates and the support can be equipped with registering devices, the registering devices having a regular outline near a portion protruding towards the next plate.
