Abstract

Shearing force due to rotation is measured on a dynamometer instrument to determine the pliability of doughy materials. It enables measurements to be made on concrete in a few seconds. A shaft (5) pivoting in a bearing (3) in the bottom of a box (1) has blades (7) attached to its lower end. These blades are inserted to a reference level (10) into the material under test to produce a torque on the box when the handle (2) is rotated against a standard spring (4). This causes a cursor (9) butted against a control arm (8) ont he upper end of the shaft to turn. When the blades are removed the spring returns the shaft to the zero position but the cursor indicates the measured value.
