Abstract

The device measures the groove diameter (25) of the capsule (22). If the measured diameter is greater than a given value, this is an indication that sealing of the capsule is inadequate. The device consists of two rollers (24) whose edges penetrate into the groove (25). The rollers (24) can move laterally such that the measured diameter is less or equal to a critical value. If the diameter is greater than the critical value, the rollers actuate a microswitch (35). The device is hinged about a spindle (39) when used as part of an automatic checking equipment. During this kind of use, a third roller (6) ensures that the two measuring rollers (24) repeatedly engage in the groove.
