Abstract
Drive is transmitted from the motor shaft (2) via a number of radially spring loaded planet wheels (1) to the output shaft (8). The frictional drive faces, between the driving surface and wheels (4, 13) and between wheels and driven surface (14, 6) have convex and concave shapes and are made from hardened steel, reducing wear, allowing high transmission speeds and giving high efficiency at high power. Continuous lubrication with low viscosity oil contributes to the achievement of long life. Speed change arrangements are particularly suitable for use in automatic transmission systems and consist essentially of setting the spring loaded forked lever (12) in different positions so that the driven surface (7) moves axially along the coarse pitch thread on the driven shaft.
