Abstract

Pressure transducer comprises a small cubioal body made of electrically insulating material surrounded by three independent multiturn electrical windings, connected in series to follow each of the three major axes of the cube surface. It may be used for measuring triaxial pressure loads within particulate media such as pharmaceutical or moulding material powders, or pellets, i.e. during pelletisation or during certain metallurgical processes, at 0 - 100 degrees and 0 - 2000 bars. It is a simple, compact assembly which can detect small relative changes in length of the support cube in three independent axes. Sensitivity on the electrical resistance measurement is 10-5/bar, linearity and hysteresis errors are 1%.
