The claimed glossing agents have the formula: where R1 = Ph; phenyl-alkyl, alkyl-phenyl, Cl-Ph; Br-Ph, OH-Ph, (OH)2Ph; ROPh, MeO)2Ph; NH2Ph; RNHPh; ClOHPh; ClMeOPh; Pyr; furyl, or RA-CH=C- where RA is: (RB = 1-10C alkyl; R2 = H-, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; R3 = alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyle, alkyl-substd. alkenyl or alkynyl, OH- or OHC2H4O- substd. alkenyl, or OH- or OHC2H4O- substituted alkynyl, and R11 = H, Cl, Br, OH, Me, MeO, (MeO)2 or, together, methyleneoxy, and are used in amt. 0.05-5 g/l of Zn bath at pH 4-6.5.
