Abstract

The craft consists of a vertically held cylinder in plastic material and reinforced as necessary by ribbing. The cylinder is maintained vertical by the positioning of ballast compartments of the lower end of the cylinder. The quantity of ballst may be varied to maintain the cylinder at the required depth or to submerge it entirely. The cylinder is fitted with a hinged lid. The lid is fitted with a broad rim to prevent water entering. A motor with a propeller is fitted to a bracket on the side of the cylinder. The cylinder is also fitted with outside lights and observation windows in the outside wall.
