Abstract
Sol. oils are actually oil-in-water emulsions and by the use of di- and tri-valent metal salts combined with emulsifying agents and physical agitation, the fine droplets can be caused to invert to stable water-in-oil emulsions on a microscopic scale. This then separates readily into two phases - clear water and a stable water-in-oil emulsion (or "mayonnaise"). The latter can be disposed of by burning.
