Abstract

Fixed loads are packed in a film by (a) winding a piece of film, whose length is almost equal to the periphery of the load, onto a film transfer cylinder with a vertical axle from a film supply spool with a vertical axle, (b) moving the transfer cylinder from a position in the vicinity of the supply spool along a closed path around the load, (c) unwinding the film from the transfer cylinder during stage (b) so that it is applied against the load, and (d) fastening the adjacent ends of the film piece. This gives no movement of the load, thus facilitating packaging of breakable loads. Various types of film, esp. externible film can be used.
