Abstract

A process is claimed for obtaining colourless transparent Ca caseinate solns. from 1:1-5 by wt. mixt. of slaked lime and fat-free cow cheese or from 1 4-2 by wt. mixt. of slaked lime and casein, by heating the mixt. at 70-80 degrees C for 15-20 mins., filtering and then centrifuging until complete clarification. The compsn. is conventionally used for the restoration of mural painting and can be applied by spraying or brushing on the surface of exfoliating or crumbling mural painting without alterating the colour. The compsn. is transparent, does not discolour or block wall pores and is also storage stable.
