Abstract

A mould cavity for moulding plastic (e.g., polyurethane) foam articles is defined between inner and outer open boxes each having fine walls and supported pref. on a base plate, the walls of the boxes being hinged together to allow release of the moulded article from the mould cavity. The walls of the boxes are double thickness and incorporate heater elements. The device is used for moulding insulation panels of fridges and freezers. The mould is of simpler construction and has a higher productivity than devices using multiple moulds passing cyclically through a heated tunnel.
