Abstract

The support elements for a continuous manufacturing table of a papermaking machine, such as dewatering plates, suction boxes, in which parts susceptible to wear are of hard material e.g. ceramic, sintered materials, hard metal alloys, cobalt-based alloys etc., are produced by (i) temporarily positioning at least a part of the support element for the parts in hard material e.g. the attaching or leading edge, on and in correct mutual relationship to a negative mould, (ii) casting a filling resin in the mould, (iii) fixing the support beam by means of a resin adhesion whereby the parts in hard material have been subjected to all machining operations before insertion in the mould and the support element being thus obtained after removal from the mould in ready-for-use state. No finishing or machining is required and the most suitable component materials may be selected to give a product costing only 60-70% of the cost of known support assemblies.
