Abstract

The bucket for hydraulic trench excavating machine is designed to obviate trench side slip and resulting secondary trench bottom trimming operations inherent in the use of rectangular section buckets. The bucket is of trapezoidal outline when sectioned on a plane passing through its axis of suspension (X-X) with the narrower of the parallel sides forming the bucket base (2). The angle (a) between bucket walls (1) and base (2) is constant along base length and conforms to the angle of trench sides after slippage. The base is longitudinally curved and extends to form a toothed (4) planar leading edge (2). Leading edges (5) of walls constitute cutting edges and the suspended bucket balances with the leading edge (2') horizontal.
