Abstract

A ventilation system e.g. for a car park, includes a flap by means of which flow can be controlled, and which incorporates a locking device released in the event of a fire so that the flap cannot be moved but is held in a blocking position. The flap is made from an angle iron frame (7) holding sheets (8, 9, 10) of fire restant material and fitted with hinges (5) carrying springs (11) which tend to close it. The flap can be swung by a remove controlled actuator. A catch on teh flap has a slider (12) held in its housing (13) against the force of a spring (14) by a strip of fusible material (15). In the event of fire, the strip (15) melts and releases the catch (12).
