Abstract

A semi-closed circuit breathings apparatus has a container (10) for gas breathed out and a container for respirator gas (20) interconnected by a container (14) housing a cartridge (16) of potassium peroxide acting as a regenerator and also acting to absorb humidity. A cylinder (26) containing a mixture of compressed air and an inert gas is connected to the junction between the outlet of the cartridge container (14) and the entry to the respiratory gas container (20) by a venturi nozzle (30), the contents of the gas bottle forming a priming charge. A whistle (42) is fitted to indicate when the gas bottle is nearly empty, and a manometer (44) indicates the pressure inside the gas bottle.
