Abstract

Tunnel-type appts. is intended for the pasteurisation of liqs. contained in receptacles, such as bottles. These are transported by the discontinuous movement of movable grids co-operating with fixed grids. The appts. comprises two superimposed girders, one on each side of the tunnel; the lower girdder has wedges in contact with pulleys which rotate on fixed axles while the upper girder is provided with pulleys rolling on the lower girder. The elements of the movable grid are mounted on the upper girder. Each lower girder is operated by a lifting jack and each upper girder is controlled by a driving jack. The jacks communicate a vertical, ascending movement to the upper girder and the movable grid; this is followed by a horizontal movement carrying the recipients to the right. A vertical, descending movement brings the movable grid below the fixed grid and a horizontal movement to theleft brings the movable grid back to the starting point. Pasteurisation of the liq. in the recipients is effected by spraying the latter with water at an appropriate temp. The spraying jets are arranged so that they give an improved sweep over a larger part of the surface of the recipients.
