Abstract

Difficulties of obtaining a reading are overcome by an indicator which transmits the reading to a more convenient location. The angular position of the rotating indicator drums of a counter is electrically coded for transmission and then decoded for reading. Each drum (3) is firmly attached to a ratchet cam (4) onto which a thin blade (9) flexes. A smooth shaft (16) is driven to maintain the blade off the cam during reading periods. Movement of the blade is amplified by means of a whell (17) attached to a toothed gear (20) which engages with the blade. Magnets on the wheel operate switches (19) to provide electrically coded signals for transmission.
