Abstract
Ammonio-amidates have formula A-O-CO-N-N+R1R2R3 (I) where A is >=5C alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, substd. alkyl or aryl or a heterocyclic gp.; R1, R2 and R3 each is opt. substd. alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl or R1 and R2 together with N to which they are attached form a heterocyclic ring, and R1, R2 and R3 together with N form 1 or 2 heterocyclic rings). Depending on desired use, pref. A are (i) long-chained alkyl- or aralkyl-, (ii) unsatd.-, (iii) polyalkylene oxide-, (iv) dye-, (v) anti-oxidising phenol or arylamine-, (vi) fluoroalkyl or opt. silicone gps. R1, R2 and R3 are esp. 4C alkyl, R3 may be beta-hydroxyethyl-or -hydroxypropyl- gps., or R1, R2 and R3 together form a pyridinium ring with N. The cpds. are used for modifying properties of polymers or surfaces of polymers, as fibres, textiles or foils, to impart e.g. water-repellency using (Ai), reactivity (Aii), anti-static and anti-soiling properties (Aiii), coloured effects (Aiv), oxidn.-stability (Av), water-and oil-repellency (Avi). Other uses include surfactants, polymers, accelerators of S-vulcanisation of rubber and catalysts for prodn. of polyurethanes.
