Abstract

Cpds. of formula (I): (where R1 is H, 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C hydroxyalkyl (not alpha-hydroxyalkyl); R2 is H and R3 is H, 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C alkyl di-, tri- or tetrasubstd. by F or Cl, or NR2R3 is morpholino; R4 and R5 are H, F, Cl, Br, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, CF3 or NO2; X is H, F, Cl, or Br; n = 0,1 or 2; with the proviso that (a) >=1 of R1-R5 is other than H; (b) R1 is alkyl when R3 is alkyl; and (c) when R4 and R5 are independently CF3 or t-Bu, they are not no adjacent C atoms) are prepd. by reacting a cpd. (II): (where X' is Cl, F or Br) with R2R3N-NHR1. (I; X = H) are prepd. by catalytic hydrogenation of (I; X = Cl or Br). Cpds. (I) are mild tranquillisers, anticonvulsants and sedatives/hypnotics.
