Abstract

The system is particularly for handling old car bodies, their surfaces being first divided before compression. The entire weight of the body is used to contribute to its feeding. Indentations or breakages are caused by tears or perforations along the body surface, and preliminary shredding is accompanied by progressive rolling. The pre-shredded and compressed materials are removed from the rolling zone continuously in the form of a virtually continuous strip which is then delivered in separate sections, typically by cutting up the strip into blocks. The cars are fed downwardly between two rows of parallel pre-shredding rolls.
