Abstract

Gold, minerals of gold, of platinum gp. metals, of silver gp. metals and of uranium gp. metals are recovered by flotation from ores and products of metallurgical installations contg. at least gold and one of the other minerals, by mechanically agitating a pulp prepared in a manner appropriate to the nature of the material, in at least one conditioning step where the pH has been reduced to 1.5-5.0 with an acid, so as to produce strong activation of at least one of the minerals in at least one of the steps, and at least one conditioning step at a pH of 6.0-11.0 in the presence of at least one collector of hydrosulphate anions, to produce strong activation of the gold and at least one of the minerals, and flotating the pulp in the presence of a foaming agent to produce an enriched concentrate of gold and the activated mineral(s). Residues remaining after cyanide treatment of gold ores previously thought to be closed w.r.t. the cyanide treatment, can, after the beneficiation process of the invention be treated again with cyanide to recover >75% of the gold remaining in the residue. At the same time, uranium values are put into suspension in the same concentrate with the gold. High recovery of pyrites is also obtd.
