Abstract
The sponge is housed so as to adhere to the wall for a specific period whilst liquid is absorbed by the wall, the sponge is then moved to an abutting area and the process repeated. The sponge (11) is housed in a 'C' shaped element (10); a strip (15) extending vertically from the top of the 'C' (13) adhering to the wall to maintain the housing and the unsheathed sponge face (12) against the wall. The sponge is fed liquid from an overhead pump supplied reservoir and is pref. of compressed wool. The treatment liquid is an aqueous alkaline solution of a siliconate, bicarbonate of soda and a carbonic substance.
