Abstract

Appts. for treating yarn e.g. of glass, nylon or rayon comprises a yarn supply, yarn coating or wetting means, means such as a mandrel to collect the yarn, an interim take-up device e.g. a suction tube for receiving the yarn, means to automatically start the yarn being collected on the mandrel and means to prevent treatment of the yarn while it is being taken up by the interim take-up means. The substandard yarn produced at the beginning of treatment is drawn away into the interim draw-off means and the fact that the yarn is initially dry simplifies the initial threading up of the yarn.
