Abstract

A plasticised PVC film has a regularly recurring pattern of randomly distributed cracks on its surface. The film is produced by mixing water, as a discontinuous phase, with the finely divided polymer and a plasticiser and heating the mixt. in the form of a film to gel the polymer and expel the water. The film is used for decorative purposes e.g. for (floor) cladding, with an opt. protective top layer and has a cracked glazed earthenware appearance.
