Abstract

Each of a number of separate intermittent radio transmissions on the same frequency have time intervals between successive transmissions which are irregular and uncorrelated, thus reducing time-coincidence and consequent mutual interference especially when received on the same receiver which may be installed in a satellite. The time intervals are controlled by multivibrators having time constants adjustable e.g. by having a number n of resistors in a circuit arranged to provide any one of n! time intervals. The apparatus may use flip-flops to control the switching of the resistors R1, R2...... Each transmitter on the given wavelength has its own characteristic 'signature' of intervals between bursts of transmissions, so that when two transmitters are working at once, coincidence between the two cannot occur for long periods.
