Abstract

The stabilised solid state circuit converting D.C. to D.C. produces a voltage output normally of a different magnitude to that of the supply and is intended for a wide range of applications, e.g. vehicle ignition circuits, domestic record player amplifiers. The basic elements of the converter are a square or rectangular wave oscillator feeding an amplifier to produce the required power and voltage level. This is fed via a transformer to a rectifying system and a stabilising capacitor across its output. A zener diode connected to this output point feeds back to the oscillator via an electronic switch such that the oscillator output is varied according to the load demands, providing a regulation effect.
