Abstract

A ski hoist with a drive station at a lower level on a ski slop and a return station higher up, with an endless cable travelling between them carrying hangers acting as seats for the skiers, has a magazine for the hangers, forming part of the drive station, with a U shaped channel (56) sloping at the same angle as the cable, and supporting a frame (102, 104, 105) with tie bars (106 to 109) which carry plates (111) which retain the upper parts of the hangers between them. A spider (122) which can be motor driven is rotated at suitable intervals to slide a plate upwards and release the first hanger so that it occupies a position ready for use. When the hanger is grapsed, it swings and operates a switch which again operates the motor and slides the end plate upwards so as to completely free the hanger.
