Abstract

There is a track (1) for supporting a vehicle. The vehicle can be an air cushion type or can roll on the rail. A sliding joint joins the rail to a moving rail section (4). Along section (4) are fixing devices under the control of a single system. Longitudinal displacement of the rail is assured by these fixings and the overall control system. The rails have downwardly projecting brackets which carry pins which slide into pairs of short tubes, carried in recesses in the track, when the rails are moved longitudinally. The ends of the rails have cooperating pins and recesses.
