Abstract

Cartridges made from a pliable synthetic material and filled with pellets are introduced under the skin of animals by means of a surgical instrument of the trocar type; they are free from any projections and restrictions are made near each end to keep the pellets in position. After introducing the pellets into the body the restriction is made by means of a clamp; the jaws of which close laterally so that a permanent deformation is obtd. by heating, possibly a high frequency current. By reducing the dia. of the body at each end the pellets cannot escape. The cartridges are cheaper than hitherto because no cap or collaretts is needed manipulation is simple and rapid so that the uneasiness of the animal is reduced.
