Abstract

The digital noise generator generates random equiprobable bits using two generators. The first generator produces a pseudo-random binary sequence that is not strictly equiprobable, and the second generator produces a periodic series of n bits. Both generators are constructed from flip-flops forming shift registers. The outputs of the various stages in the resistors are added together and the outputs of the addition circuits are passed to a series of output flip-flops each feeding one output terminal. The first generator output is added to that of the penultimate stage and is passed back to the first stage. Both generators and the output flip-flops are coupled to the same timing generator.
