Abstract

Quaternary copolyamides contain statistically arranged monomer units of polyamide-6 (I), polyamide-6, 6-(II), polyamide-12 or -11 (III) and polyamide-6, 10 or -6,9 (IV) in wt. ratios of 20-45%:5-25%:10-50%:5-35% (I:II:III:IV resp.) the percentages being based on the total polymer and totalling 100%. The copolyamide has a m. pt. of 110 degrees C and is resistant to chemical cleaning agents (e.g. perchloroethylene and trichloroethylene) which combination of properties had not been formed heretofore. It is used esp. as a melt adhesive to laminate temp. sensitive clothing textiles, esp. leather.
